Wow, what else can I say. I had a x1900xtx beched it. Got the 2 gt's today and holy #*$&, way better. Now before I show, I did not overclock the x1900xtx cause I knew I was returning so it was at stock, so I first tested the gt's at stock. Most settings on max, if you want to know specifics, I can print them.

Half Life LC x1900xtx=49.35
7900gt's in SLI=60.2
Fear stress test x1900xtx= min=31
avg=51
max=67
0% below 25
13% between 25 and 40
87% above 40
7900gt's= min=47
avg=51
max=80
0% below 25
0% between 25-40
100% above 40 (when I enabled soft shadows went to 0-10-90, where as ati was 0-43-57)

Ran 3dmark06 on ati with no overclocking and got:
3834
sm2.0=1586
hdr/sm3.0=1985
cpu=853

NOW 7900GT's !!! (now these are overclocked to 550/1600, can't seem to get core to clock higher with coolbits, any other program better so I can get it higher???)

That is a big difference though it was overclocked. But everything just looks better. And it looks amazing on the 27" LCD. So what are your thoughts. I am convinced this was the better purchase, hands down. I'm leaving now to return the ati card with a big smile. I will overclock my cpu and memory tonight to see how much faster I get everything. O, and res for fear was 1280*720, and res for hl was 1024*768 16:9. I would love more tips on overclocking the gpu's but I can ask in the overclocking forum if that is more appropriate.....

That doesnt suprise anyone, its 2 cards over one, thats like comparing a 7900GT to a 6800 Vanilla, it's just not fair.

Um, I've had people on this forum argue as to whether the superior shading of the ati card would keep it close to the gt's in SLI. Several people believed that in shader heavy apps, the ati card would still do better. I bought the ati card because I though it would a)stay on top and b)thought 2 gt's would cost way more. So I wasn't planning on returning it. But once I saw preliminary benchmarks, and considered the upgrade was only 20 more bucks, I went with it. Also, people said that 2 gt's would not be significantly better that 1 x1900xtx. I don't know where you guys were when those posts were happening.....

if the title was 2 7900gt's > x1900xtx it would be boring
the title was saying it was WAY better... which looking at the scores it is. Also, there has been a lot of talk saying SLI is a waste of time and money because you see such a marginal increase in performance.
