wait, is AM2 a socket type? and also i heard the new AM2 proccesors dont even compare to Intel Conroes? would it be better just to wait for the conroes instead of rushing and getting the new AM2s? im confused.

Both of these are coming out summerish, and are almost entirely speculation. I wouldn't hold your breath. A current AMD dual core setup isn't a bad buy.

Are conroe cores gonna be compatible with s775 boards?

if so i think ill just go with an intel CPU on a s775 board and use that until conroe comes out so i dont have to upgrade the mobo, possibly RAM with DDR2, and aftermarket CPU cooler when conroe cores come out in a few months.

Seriously....we need details on these Conroes. I want to know what kind of price/performance corelation will they have with AMD? Will they sell something in the 300s that will beat a 2.9GHz AMD (single core)

I di a search on the chipset on the board that anandtech tested the conroe's with and it said it was s775 so im pretty sure it is.
