I was wondering if you guys could help me out...

Recently whenever I play WoW, or Battlefield 2, after a while of playing my game just freezes and all sorts of screeching sounds come out from the speaker and I am forced to press the reset button on the pc because nothing else works. Then after the reboot, once I load the game up again it'll freeze the PC within 30 seconds. I never get any freezes at all when playing any other games, surfing the web, listening to music, etc.

Now I aint a computer tech but I figured since both are memory intensive games it might have something to do with that. I took out one of the 512 sticks of ram and left the other one in there and booted the computer and ran the games for a bit and nothing. I switched the sticks, and even switched the slots and all tests seemed to run the games fine. I eventually put back both sticks and everything ran smoothly for about 4 hours until it rebooted again.

So I am pretty stumped, what do you guys think the problem could be and what are my options?

In case you need to know my pc's stats or anything...

Intel Pentium 4, 3000 MHz (15 x 200)
2x Corsair CMX512-3200LL
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb

oh.. sell your pentium and get an amd fx53. sell your mobo and get pci-e. then if it still doesnt work.. shoot yourself in theface

is your cpu overclocked? if it is maybe its unstable , if its not overclocked then its probbably the psu or cpu overheating or mobo, download everest
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html get into computer-->sensor and take a screenshot and ill let you know , also have a good look at the mobo and search for bad capacitors see these examples

the cpu temperature is very good and the voltages are stable , have you looked at the mobo? , anyway other possibilities are audio/graphic drivers get the latest

Yeah I checked out the pictures and nah my motherboard looks brand new, all those caps look nice and clean. I already got the latest drivers for video/sound cards as well about a week ago in case that was the problem but no dice. =(

and both of the drivers are offical? or are they beta? , also might wanna try older drivers , theres one possibility i didnt mention (as i waited to see if the drivers will get it resolved) which is graphic card overheating i know you mentioned that in other games it doesnt happen but keep in mind that the load placed on the graphic card depends on how demanding the game is and the higher the load the higher the temperature , try some older audio/graphic drivers and if that wont help then get a new cooler http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=BA30049

i used to get that on certain games (quake 4 mostly) back when i had my x300se. i fixed it by gaming with the window open. since you cannot check your temperatures while gaming, when it does it again, feel the air coming out of the back of the psu, and see if it is hotter than normal, also put your finger NEAR the gpu heatsink, and see if it is exeptionally hot.
