Hi all
I have picked components from reading various reviews and reading comments on here. Below is the configuartion I have come up with.
I would be very grateful if you could tell me if any of the components below clashes with the other or cannot be used with each other.
If you feel that i dont X because Y is better then please give me your opinion.
Money is not a major issue but i dont want to go daft

Thx all

looks fine to me but are you sure that 74 gig raptor will be enough? maybe look into getting a 250 or 300 gig slave...

yer its a good point static. The reason nothing is on there is because i will be taking a 160GB secondary drive out of my old pc that i use for files etc (no not porn ;) ) and putting it into new system

Lmao, same processor, psu, hard drive, memory and possible gfx card as what im getting.
Only difference is im getting a NZXT Lexa as a case.

Yes one thing to maybe look at is the CPU, i think the 4800 is overkill. You should get an Opteron 165, 170 and OC it to speeds higher than 4800. Otherwise looks great. and Good job on that PSU, i have the exact one and its awesome. (Y)

well Adam I thought long and hard about that coz i wanted something high enough so it will last me hopefully a long time. But i also wasnt planning on overclocking anything unless i really had to thats why I went for the CPU that was just under the most recent FX60 Dual

£454.11 for a 4800+ 2.4GHZ 2MB cache

£258.44 for Opteron 165 1.8GHZ 2MB Cache which almost guarantee's to OC to 2.6 and above.

£317.19 for Opteron 170 2.0GHZ 2MB cache, same applies except could OC more than 165.

And since your getting a board thats practially made to be stable and for Overclocking, I strongly recommend you save yourself nearly

£200 and OC and opteron easily faster than 2.6 (stock FX60)

I think many ppl might agree with me hopefully.

BTW to all you U.S Folk. £200 = Approx $380.

If you don't want to overclock I would get a 4400+. Raptor hard drives are a waste of money, they slightly speed up load times (saves you 5 seconds loading Doom 3!! OMG) you should get something like a 200+ GB SATA hard drive. I would rather go with the Ultra-D or the SLI-DR because I hear bad things about the Expert Lanparty. PSU is good. I wouldn't go with that RAM, it is overpriced. I would go with this:

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series EL-DDR CAS2 (OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K) (MY-057-OC)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Enhanced_Bandwidth_Series.html

mmm well beefcake you have got me scratching my head now lol I have also seen people been recommended the 4400+ when the 4800+ has been available. the reason for me not overclocking is i have heard that if you do that the components dont last as long. so i have no idea what is right or not.
And also I have no idea how to overclock, so for being a noob
