Ok shall we have some nominations? Best 17" 19" 20" and why you choose it?

dell? nah!

definatly 17" i owned several lcd mon. and the 17 inch is probalbly one of the best #1 because whith a larger screen siz you can end up with a lot of eye and neck strain(unless of course you set the mon. back about 12 feet:D!!)

the 15 inch is too small and you will be squinting
the 20-21 inch is just way too freakin big!

plus also the fact that you do get a better pixel pitch and a higher contrast ratio per screen.

maby this will be of some help
if not
call me an idiot and LOL

its true that 17" do have good dot pitch but for example if you look at the 2 dells above they have better dot pitch than your average 17" and they're 20".
17" tend to have worse contrast ratio because they use exclusively TN based panels where as an accelerated MVA or SIPS panel will be double or triple.
However I do agree that ergonimocally 17" is better for you, health and safty guides always say use a small screen to reduce strain.

My 17 incher is 700:1 contrast ratio, that beats a lot of 19 inchers. Take whatever size you want though, its really just preference.

Acer AL1923 looks good, can anyone confirm it uses the AUO panel?

does anyone have this monitor?

$600 is a lot for an LCD, i would personally get the Viewsonic VX2025WM (Widescreen and 20")
