windows wont start, 2 comuters

windows wont start on 2 computers i have. one is a windows 98 with a 10 gb hd, that i want to put xp on, and one is a windows xp with a 20gb hd

neither of them will start in safe mode. i dont have an xp disk, so i was going to clone a drive i have to put xp onto 98, but i want to make sure it runs at all first.

did you just install them both? XP on a 10 gb hdd, that pushin it

not really, on a different computer, i have xp on a 8 gb hard drive

its just for my little brother to go online with, he doesn't do anything else with it

can you please help the problem??

well, yes, but in one, i took a 20 gig hard drive out of another computer, with windows xp already on it, and it wouldn't start in this computer. other than that, they're the same
i just got a windows xp disk from my neighbor, so i will try a windows recovery, and i'll post back whether or not it works
