I'm about to install a new hard drive.

I have a few questions concerning the procedure:

Step one: Set the new Hard Drive (which will be used for data storage only) to "Slave"

Step two: open computer, connect cables (the right way round) to the HD.

Now I'm not quite certain what to do. I (somehow) have to format the HD, (I would like FAT32). I think the OS is Win98. Should I boot the OS or should I enter DOS and use fdisk?

How do I use fdisk? It was a while ago since I used it last time, and since it's not my own computer that I'll be working with I really don't want to do anything wrong.

From the little experiance I have had with hardware I expect that the new HD will simply appear as D:\ in windows, is this correct or am i totaly lost?

I recently did this on my computer and my suggestion would be to go to the manufacturers website and download the tools that they have there. They helped me alot. It will format and partition the drive for you.

I'll do that next time. I'm using WinXP and it was a disaster partioning with the tools from Microsoft that were installed. I downloaded SwissKnife and everything worked fine.
