Emulate boot from exisiting partition

Is it possible to emulate a boot from a partition already set up on your computer.

Example: I have a dual boot machine (XP and Linux), is it possible, while running Windows, to emulate a boot from the actually Linux partition?

I know VMware/Qemu make a virtual hardrive, but I am looking for something to boot from what is already there.

This may be impossible. Just checking.

vmware have limited support for physical hds/partitions so you can add real ones, cant say how well it will work give it a shot

Can I do that in VMWare Player, or do I need to full version?
