I like wmp to rip because it automatically insert the album's picture on the folder

the only other alternative is realplayer and winamp, and realplayer is useless, while winamp has limited ripping features.

win amp rips aac and aac plus.

last time i used winamp (last year), it only rips in 8X speed, and only the AAC format, not MP3.

Windows Media uses the full speed of your drive while ripping.

AAC = M4A

M4A = Mpeg Audio Layer 4 = Better
MP3 = Mpeg Audio Layer 3 = Older, inferior compression algorithem.

What I can't understand though is why the Mpeg Audio Layer 4 Standard hasn't caught on and become mainstream is it because it isn't called "MP4".

and it seems to only rip to windows media player?
