7600GT, 7900GT, 7900GTX Performance Revealed.

Well I base my suspicion not off a review but off the fact that I know people that have X1900XTs and some with 7800GTX 512MBs and the X1900XTs perform better, that IS hands on experience from consumers. It's a fact that if you took the same system and used a X1900XT and put it up against the 7800GTX 512MB it will outperform it by almost 20% when you put it in 1600 x 1200 with AA in FEAR. I believe what you say that reviews on new things aren't 100% correct but I'm talking about two pre-existing cards that have been on the streets for quite some time. If a card that was faster then a card before and then it magically just performs the same of course I'm going to be suspicious.

This really has nothing to do with the 7900 GTX.

Looking over current benchmarks, it seems the X1900XT (when OC'd, or the XTX version) and 7900GTX are equal competitors. I still think the X1900 series have a slight advantage in price though.

in Canada i cant get the 7900 GT for 400, thats pretty cheap considering that the 6800s used to cost that much about 2 months ago. lol :p

They are using beta drivers from nvidia, so that could also play some part in that.

Please keep in mind that the ATI X1900XT/X drivers are still premature.

100% Agreed

Get over your fanboyish. You're all **** bent to whip out benchmarks when you want to make a point, but when something smacks you in the face you just ignore it. The benchmarks are there, and thats what they showed.

Whats up with te 7800GTX-512MB crap? It has been shown to rival, and be better than the X1900XT/X in games in the X1900XT/X's own benchmarks over at Xbit Labs. Get over your noobish fanboyish and look around before you say something.

Other than that, my X1900XT is on eBay right now. I like Nvidia more anyway. The X1900XTX and 7900GTX are just like the X1800XT and 7800GTX. Same performance, with one taking over fom time to time.

And don't try to delude yourselves with higher resolutions. Most gamers now use LCDs and none of them under 21" have resolutions higher than 1280x1024, so thats all we need to look at. For those still using CRTs *snicker* you should only look at 1600x1200.

that kinda makes me mad, the 7900gt is only 299 for the cheapest and the 7800gt is the same price. is it worth it to sell my 7800gt and buy a 7900gtx?

No, buy a 7900GT instead. Save up for a powerful DX10 card which will be available before the end of this year.

And the 7800GTX 512 gets owned by the X1900XT (which easily OC's to XTX speeds and beyound) in nearly every game I have looked at in benchmarks. Oh and your forgetting two major points:

-The 7800GTX sold for 1.5-2x as much as the X1900XT, and that's if you could ever get your hands on one.

-They aren't being manafactured anymore.

The X1900XTX still seems to be better in 1600 x 1200 and AA.

I wouldn't call a 3FPS difference, "being better." This is an even match from a card that wasn't even supposed to come close to the X1900s.

And which 1600x1200 are you talking about? Check out the Guru3D benchmarks, the 7900GTX beats the X1900XTX in almost every single benchmark. 105FPS in FEAR on 1280x1024, with no AA isn't bad either.

But I do hear that the 7900GTX is a great overclocker and reaches 700mhz+ core 1800mhz memory on air. I am waiting till I see some OCed benches.

XFX is putting out a 750/1900 version of the 7900GTX.

I do not trust those anandtech reviews one bit. I'm not sure if they underclocked the X1900s or what but a 7800 GTX 512MB should not have almost identical frames on FEAR with 1600 by 1200 with AA.

Why the heII do you guys have to think that there's some kind of conspiracy every fugging time someone out of the ordinary happens? The 7800GTX-512MB DOES beat the X1900XTX in some cases, thats a freaking fact. Brtnboarder, the performance of the card has nothing to do with the price or production. The point is, the 7800GTX-512MB CAN beat the X1900XTX, but its not common.

Anandtech is one of the best Hardware Review Websites on the Internet, if not the best. If you don't trust them, then feel free to go out and spend $20,000 on all those cards and find out for yourself. They're there to buy the cards and benchmark them so we don't have to.

EDIT: I just looked at what you're talking about Beefcake, and it makes perfect sense. The 7900GT, which is really just a 7800GTX equivalent, gets 32FPS on that. The 7800GTX-512MB, which is obviously better than the 7800GTX and 7900GT is getting 40FPS, perfectly fitting it's performance increase. Then you have the X1900XT with 41FPS, 7900GTX with 42FPS, and X1900XTX with 43FPS. Perfectly fitting their performance. If they underclocked the X1900XTX (an amazingly ignorant suggestion, seeing as this website is visited by millions every day...) then the 7900GTX should be doing much better.

But lets not dwell on that, there are atleast 3 other Major hardware review websites that report the same performance.

I'd use more than just one source first of all, at least three. It's fair to say the cards are tied in performance, give or take a few FPS depending on the game. Either card is worth buying since they share the same performance and price. Selling your X1900XTX to buy a 7900GTX is a stupid idea.

XFX is putting out a 750/1900 version of the 7900GTX.

Okay? People can still OC their X1900XTX's too, and I'll believe it when I see this hyper-OC'd card. Also, how much? Not everyone is rich like you buddy, it's more of a Price : Performance issue to 95% of the people here than raw performance. Is 5FPS more worth $50-100? I'd say no

I will agree with you once you post your benchies proving that. Also, if the 7800GTX 512 beats the X1900XT(X), it's still at least 1.5x as expensive, if not twice as much. It rarely tops the X1900XT(X) and that's most in Nvidia optimized games.
