My mate has just got some RAM, but they arent Dual Channel and he has put them in the same colored slots (which i thought were only ment for Dual Channel), I just wanted to make sure that he has to put them in to two different coloured DIMM slots.

uh, the it has been my experience that the ram has to either be dual channel or not, as far as the colored slots, that is the pairing on my mobo, I have 2 blue slots and 1 black one, when I had a single stick it was in the black one, when I got a second, I pulled the one, and put them both in the blue slots...

worst case scenario from what I can see it just wouldn't read the ram if it is not in the correct slot, so it won't boot... if it boots up fine it should be ok

it is the mainboard that determines weather or not dual channel is supported, not the memory. putting them in the wrong slots will not hurt them, but as stated above, may not boot.
