I recently purchased a 300 gigabyte external hard-drive for an old computer. Ever since I connected it when i start up my computer it gets to the windows log in screen. Then my mouse and keyboard are both non-responsive and i can not do anything. Does anybody know how I can fix this problem? Any help is appreciated.

"the external hard drive might be putting too much strain on your power supply"

Is their a solution to this problem?

get a more powerful power supply, although a usb ext. hdd shouldnt really take too much power should it?

if you unplug the (i assume usb or firewire) drive from your computer does everything start up fine?

No, the problem still exists. The mouse and keyboard are can still not be used. Btw, this is what it says on the box about the power supply.

Input: 100 to 240V @ 50-60Hz
Output: +12V / 2.0A. + 5V / 2.0A
