bear in mind though, a 17" CRT is about the size of a house, so if you have limited desk space then you'll want an LCD. If space is not a problem, then do what the Major suggested.

Most desks are designed to hold a CRT, so that's never really a problem.

Is for me. I have a load of files, a printer/scanner (which is huge) and a small desk. I was just pointing out that CRT's are not small . I had a 15 inch one which left me with very little space to move stuff around.

now that connesctor is a d-sub i think my video card has a d sub but isnt a dvi cord better quality should or are they the same.
