How could the 32 pipelines be a myth? Ive read dozens of articles saying 32 over and over again, and if the GTX did only have 24 why would they even produce it? The GT has the same about with less ram and a lower clock speed, but look at the 7800. GT has like 16 I believe, the GT has...22? Something around there, I know im off a bit though.

It was speculation, there was a rumor that it was going to support 32 pipelines and websites started posting the rumor all over the place. the 7800GT has 20 pipes not 16 or 22 and the 7900GT will have 24 pipelines. I don't know how you can make 8 extra pipelines out of a pre-existing GPU core and I'm not surpirsed that it doesn't. Remember the 7900 is just a modified and beefed up G70 core. They're releasing it to counter the X1900XTX but it still won't be able to beat it from what were seeing.

Also I found 7900GTX and GT 3dmark scores. But the GTX has only 500 points more then the GT and only 300 more then the 7800GTX 512MB. I've seen scores of the X1900XTX that are going around 5800 in 3dmark 06 in 1280 x 1024. If the 7900GTX did have 32 pipelines it would sure as **** get higher then 5200 in 3dmark 06.

Are you saying that both the 7900GT and 7900GTX will have 24 pipes? That can't be right. They just wouldn't do that. I know the 7900GT will have 24 pipes, and be clocked higher than the 7800GTX. So, in summary, the 7900GT is a beefy 7800GTX, and then I'm going to assume that the 7900GTX has to have more pipes than that. Someone clear this up.

Think of the 7900GTX as the 90nm version of the 7800GTX 512MB. This allows it to get such high clocks as 650 - 700+mhz on air without using a volt mod like the 512 did. The G71 was already in development while the X1900s were and ATI thought outside of just raw power and changed the shader architecture. Nvidia just stuck with: faster core speed = killer card but ATI saw: more efficiency = killer card.

And because the X1900XTX is so dam efficient with the shaders it beats out the 7800GTX 512MB and also the 7900s.

The 7900GTX is only 8-10% faster then 7800GTX 512MB.

I wouldn't call the 7900GT a "beefy" 7800GTX because it's only 20mhz core and 50mhz memory (100mhz effective) faster then the reference models of the 7800GTX. Think of the 7900GT as the 6800GS for the 7800GTX.

This also means that the X1900XT/X might be more powerful then the Playstation 3's GPU since it's also using the G71. It seems these next-gen consoles are already being beat out by PC GPUs but of course the cell in the PS3 is more powerful then many CPUs out there. Except the X360's GPU is more powerful then any card out there.

You said it yourself, think as the 7900 GTX as the 7800 GTX, (7800 GTX has more pipelines than the 7800 GT). Also the past cards, when going from GT to GTX havent just increased the core clock speeds and ram speeds, the pipelines were increased as well, why would Nvidia start now?

I would suspect the G71's to be liek an X8** series from nvidia yet the 7900's are actually semi good cards if the price is right.

How much are the 7900GTX's going to be, i heard the 7900GT's are around 350 range but GTX?

LOL That is the stupidest logic.

Your saying that since the 7800GTX has 4 more pipes then the 7800GT that the 7900GTX must have more then the 7900GT? Do you know anything about nvidia's 7800 cards?

The 7800GT IS a 7800GTX. The 7800GT just has 4 pipelines locked so you can't use them and clocked a little lower. The 7900GT doesn't have any locked pipelines like the 7800GT. It's the same thing with the AMD Venice cores when they first came out. The manufacturers or whoever takes some of their products and reduce their performance and sell them cheaper. This way people who do not want to spend a lot of money will still buy a product from them and the people who are willing to pay the money for the full thing make the company.manufacuture more money. The GT version are just value version of the GTX versions.

The 7900GT and the 7900GTX are the same except the 7900GTX has a much higher core and memory speed.

How about you do some research before jumping to conclusions and comparing GPUs to other GPUs that you know nothing about. What you just said was some pretty foolish logic.
