Strange noise

Here is another bizarre problem from me!

I sometimes use my CD-RW to listen to Audio Cds and it makes a whirring noise when it starts... thats normal... and not my problem... the problem is you can hear a slight whirring noice through the speakers while this drive is in use which obviously takes away from the nice sound through my speakers!

It doesnt happen when I use my DVD drive to play audio... the only difference is the Digital Audio plug goes from the CD-RW to my audigy 2... but i have muted this stream... but no change!

This might not help, but have you enabled Digital Audio for your CD-RW drive? I know that this solved my problem when my CD-RW wouldn't play music at all. If you don't know how to enable this, tell me and I'll provide soem instructions.

i had it enabled but disabled it to try to get rid of this whirring sound... i can play cds fine either way it is just the whirring sound that is the problem
