cd burner causing cds that skip

i have an emprex dvd dual 16x double layer dvd burner.

i can burn cds, however, they often skip.

my software is nero 7, but i use the nero start smart that came with it

Maybe try a different software,Nero 7 is known to be pretty buggy.

could you please list your specs. have you tried the cd's in more than one thing? it could be the device you are using to play them at fault.

hard drive, motherboard, processor, etc...

(to Shumway: is nero 7 really buggy? I still use 6.3, I have yet to upgrade... (does this mean I shouldn't?))

what do my pc specs have to do with a cd burner?

its an hp pavilion 780c, i'm sure you know what google is =)

however, i bought the dvd burner i put above, and gave the cd burner that comes with this one away.

whatever, i simply ask for a suggestion of a different software, and people ignore me and ask for my specs. thanks a lot

well we do actually have an idea what we are talking about. the reason we asked for specs is a likely cause is a buffer underrun which could happen if your pc specs weren't up to scratch.

edit: now i've seen your specs i can say that is unlikely. if you want other software look at roxio or adaptec easy cd creator. most of the time though skipping cds is a HARDWARE problem which is why we wanted your specs
