help with netgear router dynamic dns

hey i was setting up my router so that it automatically updates my dns when i turn it off and on however when it sets the ip for the dns it sets an ip similar to this 172.16.1.13 and this worx inside my LAN however it is unable to connect outside the LAN

if i update the dns manually from dyndns.org and then type in the dns it gives me this page only on my LAN however it will show the my sites outside the LAN using my dns. the exact opposite occurs when i let the router update my dns it gives me an ip similar to the one in the image under lan ip.
