Epson Photo R300 Trouble

I have recently been having trouble with my R300 printer in that it keeps telling me I am out of ink but the cartridges are full. Is there anything I can do to bypass the ink out and continue printing or do I have to keep replacing cartridges that are not empty?

did you make sure that the cartridges are in the correct slots?

Is it EPSON branded ink, or a knock-off brand?

I have used knock-offs in my epson color printer, and it didnt like the ink. It printed, but it always gave error messages on the PC.

I know on my HP when it says that it is low on ink, I take the cartridge out for a couple of minutes (to let the printer reset its memory), and then stick the cartridge back in.

HP has its chips to count the pages, and has a set number where it says it is low on ink... whether it is or not.
