my rig is similar to TheOtis so i can vouch that heating should not be an issue unless you have a small case or no fans. i have 3 hdd's as you can see one is a raptor also, an overclocked dual core and two optical drives all running full blast at the moment without incident

That is some good info.

I think I will definately go with some type of video card.
I'm thinking of some type of Antec case cuz I've heard good things about them beeing quiet.

And I will use the stock rear fan in addition to a front fan most likely. And I will do everything I can to increase air flow. i.e. small cables unlike wide flat ides? etc.

Going with a card gives me more to choose from in MOBOS!.

Any advice on video cards? Again, I am not gaming. I am going with Athlon 3700 SD Socket 939,
2x512 Ram. 2 dvd drives, ~120 hdd. This is what I know so far.

if you use sata that solves most of the cabling problems. sata is a lot smaller than even ide rounded cables. virtually any s939 motherboard you could find (as far as i know) will have sata
