Here are the European prices for the following cards in USD (note that when they arrive in the US they may be up to $50 less, and these are just estimates based on the averages of the prices of the cards in Europe):

7900GTX: $593.76
7900GT: $355.78
7600GT: $236.79

Nvidia's going to have to do a **** lot better if they want to gain some ground back from ATI IMO, the X1900XT which costs $100 less than the 7900GTX can probably hit just below it in performance. Or we better just hope that the prices are lower here.

It looks like this isn't going to be as big of a jump over the 7800 series as was originally expected. I remember forum threads and even Inquirer articles that stated that the 7900GT would be double performance over the 7800GTX. It looks like the major advantage of these is going to be the price. It looks like the best shot would be to hold over to the G80, which with Vista on the horizon, is an upgrade you are going to need to do whether you snatch a 7900GT or not.

just check around closer to the release date...
Nothing is ever better or sometimes as good as it is supposed to be before release.

THats why so many ppl said speculating over paper speculations is dumb. Especialy arguing on the internet over something thats not out yet. I wonder how many ppl got owned when the FX series cards came out and then the 9700pro came out and whooped all of them :D Funny.

So what are the official specs? 24 pipes? If so, the X1900 will still probably be on top, AND it's cheaper...
