Hi,

This is something interesting I found. I had updated my computer with the win XP feb. updates, critical only. The problem is now when I go to Start -> shutdown -> shutdown, my computer locks up, and won't shut down. I can hold the power button or punch the reset button, and that seems to kick it out of the freeze. But otherwise it is non-responsive

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how were you able to fix it?

thanks

Well, first off, do you have AV and anti-spyware? If you don't, you need them. Afterwords, download HiJack This!. Run a scan and post it here (I'm only looking for this to see your running processes).

Ya, I do have ad-aware and AVG

Unfortunatly about 5 minutes ago I got it figured out. I don't know why...but I have a feeling it has something to do with the updates. I backed out of the last update and reinstalled it. Now it's cookin along fine.

Thanks anyway

I believe it was the feburary security update. I just uninstalled it, and reinstalled the update, and it seemed to solve the problem
