os and memory question

Ok I have everything picked out and have a little money left over.I have two,one gig memory sticks should i get two more?I thought i read that filling up all four spots isnt good but I could be wrong.Next the OS this is a brand new computer ground up and i was told to get the 100$ version of WindowsXP Home Edition at newegg but dont i need the 200$ version.

2gb ram is best for xp.
Whats different between the $100 version and the $200 version (except the price^^)?

Always choose pro over home, you must decide if you want a x64 OS at this time or not. Alternativly Vista is nearing completion.

i would just take windows xp professional. all versions of windows except server 2003 and x64 only support up to 3gb of ram. besides any more than 2gb can actually take a hit on performance rather than improving it, unless it is a server
