Let me fill you in on overclocking. Rule numero uno: NOTHING is guaranteed. Your chip could be a dud, not able to oc past 2.4. It could be a monster, 3.0+. You don't fscking know, however, until you get the chip in your rig. There are too many variables. And I'd take a 2.7 dual core over a 2.8 single core 100% of the time.
