Getting rid of welcome screen

You know on xp home you get the blue screen saying welcome for a few seconds, can you remove this so that it just goes straight onto your desktop instead?

I thought id done it but what id actually done was stopped the welcome screen but i got a password prompt box instead

In XP you either get the welcome screen or a password box. You can get TweakUI from Microsoft though and that will allow you to force it to log in automatically.

Just downloaded tweakUI and changed it to auto login, great the welcome screens gone but instead i get a black screen for 1 second then straight after another blue screen saying loading my personal settings, agian for 1 second, so seems i took 1 step forward and 2 steps back!

If thats the best i can do then i may aswell put back to how it was!

Try going to the control panel>user accounts. From there change the way users log on and off. From there you should be able to get rid of the Welcome screen.

nah the only options on there is " fast user switching", nothing to do with bypassing the welcome screen
