ok, I'm new to computer hardware and installing new hardware. My current power supply is 250W and I'm looking to buy a new video card (ATI Radeon x700 Pro). But, the card says a 300W power supply or greater is recommended.

If I install the card with my 250W PS will it even work at all? Or will I have to dish out some extra money for a new PS?

Thanks.

i'd get a new psu with that. your psu may or may not power the x700 even if it does manage to power it stability may be a huge issue. fortron makes a reliable cost effective psu, antec alsomakes good psu's just not quite as affordable :)

I'll check fortron out, thanks.

Do you think I should get just a 300W PSU? Or like a 350W?

i'd go with a 350w personally. the less the psu has to strain the better. I've had an x700 and had a 350w psu behind it and it worked very well

How did you like the x700?

Basically I only want to play WoW (World of Warcraft) so do you think it will run pretty well with that game?

Add some precuations before you jump into this. Who made your current system, as right now it looks to be a pre built one like Dell, which means you can't just stick a new PSU in. They will swap around the pins and change all sorts of things around, which means you can't just put a new PSU in.

The X700 isn't a very good card. What connector does your motherboard have? PCIE or AGP? For very slightly more you can get a 6600gt which is a better card than the X700 pro.
