Which RAM configuration is best for me?

My bro posted this for me but with an error, so i'm posting it again (just in case you've read something similar), below are my options:

Option 1: 256MB PC2700 DDR-SDRAM + 512MB PC3200 DDR-SDRAM

Option 1 would clock the system bus at 333MHz, but with a total of 768MB of RAM.


Option 2: 512MB PC2100 DDR-SDRAM + 512MB PC3200 DDR-SDRAM

Option 2 would clock the system bus at 266MHz, but with a total of 1GB of RAM.

I don't think there would be a very significant difference. You should try both and just benchmark using 3DMark or PCMark or something to see which is gonna give you a little better performance.

Also, why don't you buy another stick of PC3200. It's so cheap nowadays, that I think it would be worth it.

I tried using fresh diagnose (and another benchmarking program- i think it was 3DMark, but everytime i initiated the test, my pc crashed, i'll try it again though).

I would buy another PC3200, but i'm soooo low on cash at the mo it's not really that much of a high priority- i'm cool configuring with the sticks i have at the mo.
