How to check the speed of your AGP Slot

I have a program called everest home edition by Lavalys. It says that i can handle a 4x card. But I was wondering if there is a way that I can be certain that I my computer can handle a AGP 4x card.

look in your bios and see if what the max setting is you can change you agp slot to run at....2x, 4x, 8x
