I have a real problem PC here. It is an HP pavilion 512w. It locks up when you have allowed it to set for a short time. Even when you are using it, it will lock up. It seems to work better in safe mode but not much. I have changed the Memory, I have ran scandisk. No problems. I pulled the modem, No change. I have ran spybot s&D and Adaware, as well as Housecall and Avast. Found no major problems and virus scans were clean. I have checked for heat problems and this is not an issue. I dont know what else to check. can someone else come up with something?
It is running XP home 128 MB ram.. I also added another 128MB and still no change.

So your running a total of 256mb? When was the last time you defragmented your drive? Have you run memtest86 and checked for error's?

isnt XP needs more than 256mb ram to run, is it?
512mb minimum for using w other apps...i think.
but mb u have other problems more like hardware related, maybe..
post every spec of ur comp. power supply, cpu, HD, mobo, etc.

Bare minimun is 128 but it will run really slow. I say 256 is the bare minimum and 512 is recommended, however it should not case his PC to freeze.
