So something strange happened this morning. I booted up my laptop, which has XP Home and all the updates, and it asked me for a password...

I've never set a password.

So I try everything i can think of and it doesn't work. I tried booting up in safe mode and it asked me for an adminstrator password...

I don't have an administrator password.

I can enter the set up of my computer and change me admin pw fine. I changed it to something and tried to boot in safe mode again. When I entered this new password it says it is wrong...

I am completely lost on what I should do. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you just tried to click enter? Leaving the password filed empty? Sounds like a stupid question but that is the default password.

Sometimes when windows updates it changes the way users log on and off windows.

Yes I did try that and I got a big 'no' for the adminstrator password in safe mode and the regular user password in normal mode. Could it be some kind of virus, because it booted up fine the night before and it started doing this this morning.
