Not to take the discussion in a different direction, but what if you were nuts like me and wanted a large LCD. What brand and model would you go for up in the 36-55" range? It is mainly for gaming.

I think Dell has some good ones that size. If you are really going to go insane like that though, you would need dual 7800GTX 512s in SLI if not quad-SLI 7800GTX 512s to run at that high of resolution.

Id go for a 17 inch one myself since I dont like 19 inch LCDs. 17 inch LCD monitors are sharper because of a lower dot pitch, and thus handle non native resolutions better and look sharper in general.

yea but 19 inch just loooks better when your doing other things other than games, but it can look fantastic on games too if u have at least a 6800gs vid card.

Umm... Pardon me, but not only does the X1900 series support higher resolutions than the 7800 series, but it also kicks the crap out of it in terms of performance. Things will get more evened out with the release of the 7900 series however, but there has been some speculation now that the 7900GTX will still only have 24 pipes.
