i am trying to use my floppy drive to create some boot disks for my friend, because his computer isnt running, and he needs win 95 installed (its old). I have the bootdisk folder on my desktop, but when i try to copy the files to floppy disk, the system makes the same noise it does when it restarts....is the floppy drive taking more than 350W of power?

Help is greatly appreciated!

when i make the bootdisks, i am on mozilla firefox.

and if i use the floppy drive, it makes the restarting noise, but doesnt actuallly restart. It also freezes while it does that restart noise.

don't know what you're talkin about restart noise but whenever a floppy drive is being used, it makes noise. sometimes it also freezes for a while but that's normal. it just depends on your computer.

i think the system is overheating when the floppy drive is used.

I am only using the floppy drive to make bootdisks, maybe its too dusty?

i don't think floppy drives overheats your system, i mean all it does is just read or write data on floppy disks. i don't think it uses a lot of power or cpu resources. it's a legacy device

if you're concerned that your floppy drive might damage your system, get a new one. they're not expensive

the floppy disks are about 1 year old, maxell brand.

i dont think that they are faulty, its the PC unfortunately :(
