I got around to overclocking my eVGA 6800GS tonight. I started out with 425/1000 and getting 5058 3DMarks. My sweet spot ended up being 495/1202, which netted me 5839 3DMarks. 500/1202 fragments on Canyon Flight, so I assume 495/1202 is as far as I'm going to go. I didn't try any higher on the memory, but I think I'm content.

Btw, on this overclock, my temps throughout the 3DMark05 tests were 63-65ºC. So, that's my max.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get around to the CPU, which I'll have to be a lot more careful with :p.

wow those are excellent gains.

Is something wrong with mine? I have a PCI-X XFX 6800GS XXX edition.

OC'd it from 485/1100 to 502/1202 and went from 4789 to 5089 in 3dmark05.

Should I be satisfied?

Let me know your stats and overclocking specs

I've got mine at 540/1220 right now. I kept all the pci slots under it empty so it would get better airflow and it has a 120m fan not too far from it. Last time I ran 3dmark with these settings I got a 6307 and my temp under load stays around 56-61.

PCI-X is different than PCI Express. We should probably keep that straight so there's no confusion in the future.

Stuff like what you're telling me is why I continue to steer clear of XFX for builds I do for other people. I only hear good things about half the time.

hmm, i got a radeon 128gb 9700pro....agp, should i try to oc it, what will it do, same with my ram, i got a gb of geil ram, i see an option to oc it in the bios, but how do you know what the limit is, there no temp or anyhting, and whats all these numbers mean...540/1220, 485/1100 to 502/1202..ect, ect??

I ended up having to go down to 491/1202 because after some repeat testing of 3DMark05, I got fragments on game test 3 (it's always on game test 3 :().

nice, i think i've found my sweet spot at 500/1150. i'm loving it, i havent tried 3d mark with my new rig yet, but i'll get back to you on that one

Your CPU and the interface is screwing over your score.

Wow I thought my overclock was normal but looking at this I can see the GS cores aren't clocking nearly as high as I first thought...plus I finally get to test this thing out under water and I'm going to try a bios mod and see if the PCB likes higher voltages or not

Definetely something wrong, you should be getting mid 5000s out of the box I would expect, I'm scoring around 6200 or so with this at 530/1250 so there's no way you should be having trouble breaking 5000...might be drivers though
