Do "lost" files on a harddrive take up space?
Is it possible to delete them so that when you take a lost file recovery tool, they are not there, do not show up, and your harddrive has no recollection of the file?

No, You delete some files, lets say .jpeg's
You empty the recycle bin

There are still ways to recover the files, which is how those law enforcement "computer specialists" find files on your computer even if you've deleted them.

My post is not about an illegal matter, just curious if the files that can be recovered take up space and is it possible to delete them safely and in mass groups.

Another thing: If you saved more files on your computer after you deleted the files from the computer, the hard drive could have used that space the files were on. So you may not be able to recover all the files.
