ok, well its midnight and im not getting any sleep again -_-... unfortunatelly... so i am going to do this graph over the break. I will be able to look at the posts, but not post the graph or anything until the end of the week. I just have a few questions:

1. how often do the nVidia and ATI cards release... i believe it is every year or so, but i am not sure

2. same thing - processors. i calculated it to be about 3 "families" per year, but i want to make sure that is correctish (includeing laptops)

thats it... i am making it know with what i [think i] know, and then i'll edit it with your response.

thanks guys!

well, i think that computers will be implanted in your body, so you can game wherever so in that sense laptops & desktops will be merged but the ultimate gaming rigs would be desktop rigs, with the graphics restricted by our screens & the resolution of which the eye works.

thatd be sweet... lol

but does anyone know.....

?

don't get me wrong, i encourage you to talk about future technology, but i just want to varify the numbers to put up a gerneral equation of how much something will be worth after x months.

thanks

Just one thing about all this. Silicon :p . The main part of all chip boards. Silicon has a certain amount of how small it can go. So in say 5 10 years we are going to need to use summin else and the only thing that can go smaller than silicon is cells :( . Were talking about us or animals. They would try making cell computers now but they're worried that the cause cells can evolve and change that they will evolve minds of there own and it will truely be the matrix :p . All i can say is when that day comes I hope i'm dead  . So your hypothesis is true if silicon could go that far but unfortunaltly it can't. Were probably go as small as we can go with silicon then go on to make muti CPU and GPU things and then just massive computers. We may even stop advancing in computers althougther.

This data should prove to be an excellent building ground. If you fill in the blanks all the information would be revealed quite nicely!
Good Luck!

Wow, and you know what. That cell thing will happen eventually. I mean computers are gonna be like living things which scares me.

Why its Richie Franka and his "Everlasting Graphics Processor"!
LMAO
But ya, tommy. Something that would REVEAL the trend in the market as far as new technology goes. I mean, there has to be some kind of recurrent function that would pretty much be applied to all technology as a prediction of price taking into account its starting price and current age and could be solved for X months old, Y1 Retail, Y2 actual, etc.

As far as computers of the future go...however said that about gaming is absolutely right. I mean look at FPS in games. The human eye can't see more that 80 at the MOST? so computer games will advance beyond our judgment and reach a critical point. Humans won't be able to tell the difference between more advance tech.

And hes also right in saying that there little need beyond gaming. Things have already seemed to level out. I mean .3 sec for 12 million search results? sounds like they can check that one off the list....I think its a race of hardware to make it simpler, smaller, light.
10-15GHz would probably be a threshhold of necessity. I bet They will develop a conciousness if we let them. My history teacher once pointed to his computer and said "someday that blasted machine will walk on two feet and say "I think, there for I AM!"

To be perfectly honest with you...

I don't think the human race will be given an oppurtunity to advance that far. I beleive we are ripe for a cleaning...I love computers to death, but technology can be idolized and worshipped...
The G-Man doesn't like that one too much...
He doesn't like when his creations replace Him with a piece of metal. We'll end up with enough rope to hang ourselves I do believe...Good gosh, WTF would a BOMB be like in 2050?

*Right Click - DELETE _.......ASIA*
*Empty Recycle Bin*

Nice post. Exactly what I was thinking. I also believe technology will be our downfall. Pretty soon they will be putting chips into our hand and you know what that is.

Why Thank You...

Chips in the hands = Prophecied Mark of the Beast?

"666MB w/ "charagma" Core! Get yours today!...or we'll F'n Kill you!"

They're already doing this in pets, and some infants *cringe*. It's called "Digital Angel"...oh the irony! I found this on the internet...

"First they will implant it in those who could not refuse (prisoners, and the military). Then, they would build a case for potential or feared kidnap victims. At first, it would be voluntary. Then, it would be required for "certain services." Eventually, it would be mandatory, and probably implanted at birth."

The world will embrace such applications of a device in the medical field, search and rescue, economy, safety, military strategy, etc. Theres a really good book out there called ENOUGH and its all about our obsession with technology.

More from the internet article...
"Digital Angel Owner claims no one will be forced to wear Digital Angel. "We live in a voluntary society," he said. Yeah, like the "voluntary" Social Security card, and the "voluntary" income tax? Voluntary today tends to eventually, inevitably become mandatory."

This is all starting to remind me of HL2! Oh what a GREAT game with such profound setting!

I'm not getting no mark of the beast. You can come live with me in the wilderness Benny. Bring your guns :D

Amen to that! Theres no denying the fact either. It WILL happen. There is no reason it wouldn't, its too ideal for our society. Only those with good judgement and foresight will obstain from taking it and they will be outcast or will die (denied food water etc in a time of DIER need). All of the stories will become a reality and the world will enter its darkest chapter yet...until...ya...you know

Wheres tommy? lol. this thread is going to end up getting moved
