7800GT.
X1800XL.
6800GT/6800GS (they're pretty much the same, but the GS is cheaper).
6800XT.
X1600XT.
X1600Pro.

Those are ranked how you listed them. But this is all that you need to know when looking at them;

7800GT.
6800GS.
X1600XT.
X1600Pro.

Nothing else matters.

ok,
i dont want to spend alot,
would all of the graphics cards i listed play games like cod2, bf2, gta:sa to there max graphics abilitys>
is the 6800XT not good even though its a 512mb?
Thanks m8

The 7800GT will play Call of Duty 2 at 50FPS with EVERYTHING Maxed out, as in 1280x1024 resolution, All settings High, 4xAA, and 16xAF. The 7800GT will play Battlefield 2 at 75FPS with the same maxed out settings as above. The 7800GT costs $290USD.

The 6800GS will play Call of Duty 2 at 25FPS with the same maxed out settings and 1280x1024 resolution that I mentioned earlier. The 6800GS will also play Battlefield 2 at 56FPS with maxed out settings on 1280x1024 resolution. The 6800GS costs $185USD.

The X1600XT will play Call of Duty 2 at 15FPS, and will play Battlefield 2 at 45FPS, both at maxed out graphics. The X1600XT costs $167USD.

Remember, those are at ABSOLUTE max graphics. You can't play at graphics better than that. You can always tone down some stuff to get better performance, and it would still look pretty **** good. As long as you're happy with it, thats all that matters.

The 6800XT may have 512MB RAM, but that doesn't make a difference unless the videocard has enough power to take advantage of that. The 512MB RAM in the 6800XT is pointless, and doesn't add to the performance because the card can't handle it, and doesn't need it.

The videocards may be more expensive in London, or England in general.

thanks 4 that!
so how will gameplay be like with the 6800GS @ 25FPS? will it be all dodgy and slow?
Also whats the max graphics i can put cod2 on if using 1440x900?
shall i really put it on 1440x900 or is that stupid (its a 19" 8ms LCD)

Sry to barge in on your thread but I just don't get it. My friend has a 1600xt, 3500 +, and 1gb or RAM. What I don't get is it plays BF2 on absolutly everything maxed out at a constant frame rate of around 60 with no lag. This is also without overclocking!!!! I don't get it. He also has 1 ping in CS:S with only broadband. Can some one explain this to me.

I think I'll be purchasing a 6800GS here pretty soon. I plan on playing on a 1024x768 resolution. I think you'll still be very pleased with it, and should also play on that resolution. You'll get great framerates and still have everything maxed out.

25fps is a little doggy. I like to stay above 35, 40 if possible.

instead im going 2 get a 17" moniter and take it down to 1280x1024, thats for the help, i will be getting a 6800GS, one question though, it says you need: ATX v2.0 compliant PSU Required for PCI-E Graphics/Motherboard
Im going to get a Antec TruePower 2.0 430W PSU is that alright?

Good choice on the 17" monitor. That will also give you the option to take it down to 1024x768 for newer, more demanding games. As for your PSU, I wouldn't get anything less than a 480W. 430W would get you by but I would go 480 or 500 just for that cushion.

I have a 6600GT, and I often get 40FPS on BF2, so obviously those results aren't 100% for all people, and all situations, but they're also taken in the most demanding circumstances. And thats only an average score, the FPS probably went much higher and lower depending on what was going on in the screen.

17" is good, thats what I have. 25FPS is still decently clear, but more is definately better. But remember that those scores are on the HIGHEST settings possible on one of the Best-Looking games out there, so you could tone down the settings and still get amazing performance.
