I have a Compaq Evo D510s small form factor desktop which currently has a 1.6GHz Pentium 4 in it. I have found a place that sells the same socket processors that my computer uses and would like to upgrade it, but since it is a small form factor it has a simple heatsink and was wondering if anyone else has a SFF Evo and has done this, or if the original heatsink would be able to keep the processor cool enough, or even a heatsink that can be used in my computer.

find out what kind of heatsink it is and look up the specs. i would suggest that if your going to get a new processor that's bigger than 2.4ghz to get a new heatsink/fan.

with my p2 630 3.0ghz i am useing aa stock heatsink and fan and it is running at 30c and at max temps it gets to 40c but i haven't seen it go above 40c so it works great for me. (thermal paste also helps)

Usually when you buy a new cpu you get a heatsink/fan with it, I would look into the seller.
