im not much of an ATI guy but i think sapphire make the best ATI cards.

and if you go with the X800GTO2 you can unlock and overclock it to an X850XT PE

ok, so now thats all ordered. when it arrives, do i want to use the special asus drivers, with all the extra OC utilities, etc, or just the stock ati drivers?

You want to get the latest ones of the ATI site. Remember to un-instal the old drivers if you had a nvidia card.
