I have an older Jetway v333da motherboard with an athlon xp 1700+ in it. I am curious if i can put a 3200+ that I have lying around in the mobo, as long as I turn the fsb down to 333 in the bios. I'll update the bios to the latest version first.
does anyone see a problem/risk with trying this? Even if no one knows wheter it will work, I just want to make sure that no one else sees any reason that this should damage the mobo/cpu.

thanks for any help.

Yea sure I don't see why not. Your not going to get the full potential out of it but it should work. Flashing/updating your BIOS is kind of dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. If done incorrectly your motherboard is now fit for the trash.

I've flashed a few before, that's not a problem. I've just never used a processor that wasn't specified to work with a given board. Thanks for the input. :)

I'm thinking you can't. Since the 3200 is probably a different socket size than that motherboard.
