Freezing Computer

My computer has been freezing for a while now, quite a few times in a day. I recently installed opera, then tried to drag into the quicklauch, and then none of the buttons were getting highlighted in the taskbar ( start, IE, and etc.) Then I start to click start or anything else then the mouse stops working and the computer beeps once from tower. What is going on? What's causing this? I ran ad-aware pro and spybot, deleted everything, but this issue still comes up. I also can't find a way to get rid of Download Accelerator Plus, which I think might be some of the problem.

No I haven't. I'm going to most likely just reinstall windows, I have over 130GB of things that I'm not sure what uses up all of that. So I'll clear all of that plus get a fresh start. Could the OS be what's wrong? I mean, I ran ad-aware and everything deleted, but this still happens. My computer runs fast though, everything runs smooth, just this POS glitch happens all the time. Anyway, I'll see what I can do. My external HDD is awesome for these projects

EDIT: I noticed it freezes everytime when I use Opera, close it, then try to drag it into my quicklaunch.

have you tried removing opera?

another alternative:

windows key+pause, launches up the system information.
set the computer to use "more performance" rather than more effects.

Opera isn't the problem though, I just found out what causes the PC to freeze. And it isn't Opera that always does that, it's other programs as well. I could be running a few things, try to close one, doesn't respond, nothing highlighted, and pc beeps and it's done. Anyway, I tried to repair, but that didn't work, couldn't get back into windows, and yes I did everything right. So my only option was to create a partition on the old one, and now everything seems to be running smooth. Anyway, thanks for the replies.
