Disk Error

Hi, i am currently having trouble with my computer... everytime i boot it doesnt go to windows but it says DISK ERROR... ANd i tried formatting it but it still says that... What should i do?

Do you have SMART turned on? You may have a bad disk on your hands.

you might also check the jumper on the drive, and the cable could be bad. be sure your BIOS settings are correct.

Format the disk in another computer but don't let it copy any of the windows files. Then put the harddrive back in the original computer, boot from the CD and then install windows, without formating. Then it should work. Or give him an Athlon XP.

You can try booting into a Linux Live CD like Knoppix. See then if Linux can mount your hard drive and access files. Ensure you're boot sequence in your BIOS specifies boot from CD first.
