But wouldn't a 4400+ theoreticly outperform a 3700+ becuase it will be dealing with windows and other background programs?

I meant that the 4400+ theoreticly would run better becuase it is processing the single threaded game at 3700+ speeds but it is also processing the rest of windows, it would pretty much be taking the weight of windows/background apps off of the processor that is running the game, where as a single core would have to handle the game AND windows simoultaniously.

but the thing is, that they both have enough power to do so at the same time. Neither one is being challenged.

Cost / performance gain is a ridiculously high ratio though when you compare the 4400 X2 to the 3700. Read that again...high ratio = baaad. : ) I'm going to buy a 3700 / 4000 single then upgrade to a X2 in about a year or so. Then it will be cruuuucial. I get what you guys are saying though. It's just not worth it dime for dime.
