Hey all,

should i bother buying a socket 432 (A) AMD processor ?? reason i ask is at the moment i have a 2ghz intel p4 processor and board...but i have been givin a Socket A AMD Board (Gigabyte GA-7VAX) and i was wondering if i buy a amd processor will i notice much diffrence between my p4 and the amd ??

could you also list what would be a good processor for me to get :) thanks guys

well if you get a barton 2500+ there would be a boost, id look for a barton core, 512KB cache, if it is overclocked right it beats my A64 3000+ on super pi.

what about:

AMD Barton Athlon XP 3200+ (2.2GHz) 400MHz FSB 512Kb Socket A CPU

is this one alright ?

how much is that?? can you get one thats lower like a 2500+ cause ive heard 3200+ speeds without touching cpu voltages, just have ddr400

umm..its on ebay ?? at the moment its $182.50 but its still got 4 days left...

i cant find any socket A cpu's in online stores...so i checked out ebay and found that one...ill look to see if there is a 2500+

well if you had an abit NF7 board I'd recommend you pair it with a 2500+ XP-M as they're basically guranteed to hit 2.4GHz and beyond depending on how much overclocking experience you have...although I dunno how well it'd go with a gigabyte board
