ZALMAN CNPS7000B Question????

I already have my motherboard screwed in and ready to go. I just bought that Zalman fan and it requires me to take out my board and put on this black mounting plate for the Heatsink to be on properly....do i have to put on this back plate??? What's the point of this thing?

yep the backplate is what secures the heatsink. had the dame problem kinda sucked but they work great. worth the effort plus you get bonus tech time.

do you have to use the Fan Mate thing? Because putting it outside of my case is really gay.
