Reading problem on CD-RW

my dad recently burned a few word files from his comp, and when he tried to read thme on my computer, the files werent there, and properties said there was nothing on the disc. I am using x6 edition, he isn't (just thot that might help). what could be the problem? thanks!!

How were these files burnt?
What OS's are on the 2 machines?

my dad said he just cut and pasted the files from word into the disk.... and I am pretty sure his OS is windows xp home edition.

It's one thing to copy your files into the cdwriter drive, but it's another to tell windows xp to burn them.

If he hasnt already, go into My Computer, then right click on the cdwriter drive icon and choose 'Write these files to CD'.

some burners are not compatible with certain types and brands of media as well. you also might make sure that you have the latest firmware for your burner to help with this problem.
