How about no. The 4400 x2 is over my budget and I am already 100 over. But I quess since you are comparing the 165 with a higher chip I think your vote in the 3800+ or 165 is the 165. How high could I overclock the 165 with stock cooling?

With stock cooling prob u can only OC it 200MHz above normal, or ur rig will fry.
Prob with that budget u will need a San Diego Core. Or the opteron 165 will do u just fine.

I here the stock cooling on the Opty 165 is some of the best stock cooling out there and it can compete with some aftermarket coolers.

Lol, sry. Didnt mean to come of harsh. Ya so I hear the Opty stock coolers it is possible to get it to run at 2.8 and very stable at 2.5 so I think I will go with the opty.
