OK so after long discussions about what to do for upgrading I came to a conclusion. I am just going to stick wiht my rig now until around June when i will start work again and then i will buy a socket 939 rig. Ok so for that rig in june this is the stuff i am looking into buying. I still want to keep it cheap. I don't want to spend too much on this computer but i do want it to be good.OK so here is the parts i want to get. I will take suggestions.

Mobo:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130491
Ram:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145440

Case:http:nzxt case

HDD: I already have a seagate baracuda 160GB IDE ultra ATA 100, but i might get one of these for my operating system:

ok so thats it. The case i want i saw at my local computer store today it is awesome and it is sturdy too. They are selling it for $69.99. Newegg is selling it for $79.99 plus 16 bux shipping. By june the new socket AM2's might be out so the 939 stuff will drop in price. I want to buy only the stuff that most likely will stay the same price. The cpu and mobo are probaly going to drop so i will buy those in june. right now i am thinking about getting the case and the ram. that way i can use both of them for my comp now. so what do you guys think i need suggestions?

total with everything shipped and tax and etc. It comes out to $684 not including the raptor hdd, which i might buy later on. So if you have suggetsions i want to try to keep it $700 and under.

Good job with the build. I can't find a thing that I'd do differently on that list within that budget. 2GB of RAM would be the only thing I would add, but that'd probably add $70-80 to your current price. It'd definetly be worth it, though.

yeah i figured the 1gig ram will be just to get the conp up and runnign you know. Then later on i wil probaly get anohter 1 gig dual channel kit and maybe a raptor harddrive for my games but for now i just want this stuff to get the computer started. I got a question about the videocard. Is the 6800gs a good card. I was thinking about just getitng a 6600gt but this was better. For the price ro for any price lessor more do you think i can get a better videocard? whether it is the best bang for the buck or it is more powerfull for the same price. so basically is that videocard a good choice?

The 6800GS is an awesome card. Definetly go for that. You can upgrade later down the line to a G80 or something.

Well, the G80 series comes out in the June timeframe. I would definately not get the 6800GS, but wait for the G80, which will be comming out around the time of your build anyways. You will definately want it for UT2007.

If it is a new technology coming out, it will MOST LIKELY be above your $700 budget limit.

For your CPU, you will probably be able to get a better one in the summer for the same price....

The CPU i have... AMD 3500+ Venice core was $267 when I got it in July..... Today, the price is $201, and it isn't even a sale, or special buy or anything...

I would say that if you PC is getting the job done now, stick with it, and just 'byte the bullet' until summer to get your new system. You will probably pay about $50-$200 LESS for the SAME STUFF by then, so you can have more money in the end, or get slightly better (performance wise) parts.

Nice build overall though....
