Hello everyone!

Well I've been rather disappointed with my PC's performance and I think its time again to upgrade the motherboard / CPU. (Mainly speed reasons)

I'm currently running an Athlon64 3000+ which non-oc'd runs at about 1.9ghz.

I'm looking at upgrading to hopefully 2.8ghz+ maybe even more than 3.0 ghz if I can !

However I'm limited on money so looking for the best speed for my buck. I have no interest in all the little gadgets on the motherboard, I just want the pure speed, AGP, DDR dimm slots, etc..

I've been checking out Tigerdirect.com and came across a few bundles that I was curious about. I don't quite understand why they are so cheap but $100 seems like a great deal for a 2.9-3.2ghz motheboard / cpu combo.

Heres a few links, if anyone please has some spare time and can give me a few reviews / suggestions / advice:

Thank you very much!

(Also, I'm normally an AMD person, but the speed from the Celeron D bundles compared to the high price of the AMD's on there seems to outweigh the brand name stipulation)

Good lookin one:

Price too good to be true ? :

Well theres a ton of good motherboard combos on this website, it seems that I'm aiming for a Micro ATX motheboard / CPU combo. I pretty much don't require a Full ATX motherboard anymore since all the extra slots and ports always end up going to waste. Perhaps that is why there is such a large price difference.

Anyways, so like I said earlier, I'm looking to get a new combo for around 100 dollars. Please, if anyone can check out those links or even this page : http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=14

I appreciate any and all help anyone can give me on which would be the best combo for speed over gadgets.

Thank you again!!

Ok, so I've just been reading quite a bit of the other posts, and I think I should mention that I have a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor.

However it only runs at about 1.9Ghz, which seems really slow considering how much good info I hear about them. Could it perhaps be caused by the EPoX EP-9NDA3J ATX AMD Motherboard ? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813123230

It was a motherboard combo I bought from Newegg quite some time ago, but has been a wee bit sluggish. (Ignoring any OS issues)

Should I jus stick with what I have, get more ram, new motherboard, or ? (Currently 1.5gb PC3200 ram)

=======================================

Those Celeron packages are crap to be honest with you. Celerons are gutted P4s and those mobos are bottom-of-the-barrel quality.

Might as well use your cash for toilet paper if you buy either of 'em.

hmm, well my current 1.5gb ram is dual channel running at 400mhz.

maybe I've become too used to the speed to really notice it anymore. =)

I figured those prices were too good to be true for those speeds, lol
I'm definately going to look into at least upgrading my motherboard. This Epox has run nicely so far, but it can't handle my graphic card anymore. (GeForce 6800GT 256DDR2 - took the card out one day for cleaning, popped it back in and computer went nuts, lol)

Anyways i thank you very much for your replies and wise knowledge!
