does anybody know how to remove internet explorer completely (including stuff in the program files and windows folder) and installing an older version such as internet explorer 5?

as far as I know, you cant, its built into Windows

It is possible but is not suggested. Since IE is built into a Windows install removing it could in fact mess up your Windows install and thus forcing you to format and re-install.

I would just erase all shortcuts to it and make sure you have your other browser set as default. (Hopefully Opera) That is all i have done to get rid of my nasty IE.
