Ok, heres my problem my aunts floppy drive wont detect any floppies, i've checked to make sure everything is plugged in correctly. The green light never comes on, Windows detects the drive, but whenever i put a floppy in try to open it it always says to insert a floppy first.

How do i fix this?

EDIT: I just installed a 1024 MB of RAM, and a new 40GB hdd.

Use a different floppy drive. The green light not comming on tells me that its a hardware failure.

Maybe you pluged the floppy cable the wrong way round, since it plugs both ways. Although this should result to permanent green light it is worth to give it a try.

I believe i have it plugged it in the right way, isnt the side with the twist supposed to be plugged into the floppy. I tried to make the cable have the wrong connection on purpose, and when i do that the green light is permanent.

Have a look in the floppy drive.

The metal part of a disk might have come off in the drive.

This is a common problem on my network at work...

Windows still sees the drive but wont recognize the disk.
