I'm having some trouble with my USB ports. I've recently replaced my hard drive, and everything seems to be fine and working per usual except for my USB ports, which started failing with the first hard drive.

There's no reported problem on the computer, but the plug-and-play devices aren't being recognized properly... (my printer and mouse which are plug-and-plays bring up the "searching for new hardware" wizard, which is very unusual. Installing the drivers for these items do not solve the problem, btw.)

Any ideas? The machine is a Dell Inspiron 8500.

have dell technicians take a look at it. last time my USB ports went out on my, it was the beginning stages of my old mobo crapping out.

Say it ain't so.

I just got my hard drive replaced. Stupid little...

Dell techs can't do anything. My warranty conveniently expired. The techs read from a manual and live in India. What can they do? Their solution is always to get a new hard drive, btw...
